SparkHub takes Maldivian startup stories global with ‘Huddle Malaysia’
SparkHub has expanded its efforts to showcase Maldivian entrepreneurship beyond national borders with the successful conclusion of Huddle Malaysia, its first international community-led networking event, held in Kuala Lumpur.
The event brought together Maldivian founders and professionals based in Malaysia, marking a key milestone in SparkHub’s mission to strengthen connections within the global Maldivian startup ecosystem while amplifying founder stories on an international platform PR Huddle Malaysia.
Huddle is SparkHub’s flagship storytelling and networking initiative, designed to provide informal spaces for founders to openly share their experiences, lessons, and challenges in building businesses.
Since its launch in the Maldives, the platform has gained recognition for fostering meaningful, founder-led conversations within the local startup community PR Huddle Malaysia.
Curated specifically for the Malaysian context, Huddle Malaysia highlighted Maldivian entrepreneurs who have established ventures or are currently operating from Malaysia, illustrating how founders from the Maldives are overcoming geographical boundaries to build globally relevant businesses PR Huddle Malaysia.
The session featured four Maldivian founders from diverse industries. Mohamed Fauzaan, Founder of Pluk, shared his transition from a fintech career to building an AI-powered product in Malaysia, reflecting on the challenges of starting afresh in a new country while leveraging prior industry experience.
Maail, Founder of Tiny App Studio Sdn Bhd and Senior Engineering Manager at Mindvalley, spoke about his journey as an independent app developer who has released more than 20 applications on the App Store, emphasising how close engagement with users helped him transform side projects into focused ventures built from Malaysia for a global audience.
Shafiu, Co-Founder and Chef at Oviato, discussed how his background in product design and experience developing consumer products used by millions influenced his current work in simplifying digital wallets to make emerging technologies more accessible.
Meanwhile, Afrah, Co-Founder of Family Room Coffee, recounted his shift from forensic science to entrepreneurship, detailing how the Maldives’ first specialty coffee concept evolved into a community-driven brand that has since expanded to Malaysia PR Huddle Malaysia.
Speaking on the initiative, SparkHub Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Hussain Jinan described Huddle Malaysia as a defining moment for the organisation.
He noted that SparkHub’s community-driven models have been tested and refined in the Maldives since 2018, and that taking Huddle abroad marks the first step towards building a truly connected global Maldivian startup ecosystem PR Huddle Malaysia.
Family Room Coffee supported the event as its coffee partner, contributing specialty brews and reinforcing the collaborative spirit of Maldivian businesses supporting one another overseas.
The event was attended by more than 50 participants and was open exclusively to the Maldivian community, creating a trusted environment for networking, learning, and inspiration
