President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that he will win this year's presidential election in a single round. 

Speaking at the "Ibu 2023" meeting held in Noonu Atoll Velidhoo this evening, the President stated that the Election Commission has announced that the presidential election would be held in September this year and that he would win this election in a single round. 

The President stated that he would maintain the current government after winning it. 

Noting that MDP is the largest party in the Maldives, the President highlighted what has happened in the past and stated he would not let it happen again. He further said that he does not remember much about what happened in 2008 and 2013. He questions the people today whether they will go back into intimidation and whether MDP members will face serious problems.  

The President further explained those days would not repeat once the MDP win's the Presidential election. He further explains that this could be done by someone who has the vision to form a government with a combination of different ideologies and has such support. President Solih repeatedly stated he is the only candidate who can deliver it from MDP.  

Until now, no party has won the election in a single round. However, several parties have always aspired to win the election in a single round. Earlier Former President Mohamed Nasheed tried to win the election in a single round with a theme named "Eyburun". However, MDP failed to win the earlier election.
