World Yoga Day was celebrated in a vibrant and peaceful atmosphere at the Taj Exotica Maldives Resort, with over 500 participants joining in the nationwide observance of the global wellness event.

Organized by the Indian High Commission in Maldives, the event was graced by State Minister for Sports, Fitness and Recreation Ibrahim Amir, who officiated the ceremony as Chief Guest.

Indian High Commissioner Shri G. Balasubramanian was also in attendance, reflecting the continuing cooperation between the two nations in promoting health and wellness through yoga.

Each year, the Indian High Commission hosts World Yoga Day activities across the Maldives.

This year’s event stood in stark contrast to the 2022 incident, when a group of individuals stormed a yoga celebration at the Galolhu National Stadium, sparking public outrage and leading to parliamentary scrutiny.

At the time, then Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof was summoned before Parliament, and several individuals were charged over the disruption.
