President Dr. Muizzu expresses grief, affirms support for India after Air India plane crash
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic crash of Air India flight AI 171 near Ahmedabad, India.
In a message posted on his official X account, President Dr. Muizzu conveyed heartfelt condolences and solidarity on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives.

he wrote.
Air India flight AI 171, en route to London with at least 242 passengers on board, crashed shortly after take-off.
According to reports from Reuters, rescue teams have recovered between 30 to 35 bodies, with many more individuals feared trapped in the wreckage.
The aircraft went down in a densely populated area, reportedly striking the dining facility of the B.J. Medical College hostel.
Indian news outlet CNN-News18 reported that several medical students were among the victims, showing footage of part of the aircraft resting atop the building.
Authorities continue search and rescue operations amid the devastation.
