The Parliament has approved the appointment of Aishath Azeema as the Maldives' non-resident ambassador to Nepal.

Azeema, who currently serves as the Maldivian ambassador to India, was nominated for the additional post by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Her appointment was endorsed with 58 votes in favour and none against.

Alongside Azeema, President also nominated Iruthisham Adam, the current ambassador to the United Kingdom, as non-resident ambassador to Ireland, and Geela Ali, the ambassador to the United Nations, as non-resident ambassador to Ukraine.

However, Parliament did not hold a vote on either of these nominations.

A seasoned diplomat, Azeema has held several senior roles within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over the course of her distinguished career.

She previously served as the Maldivian ambassador to China, where she worked to strengthen bilateral relations.

She has also served as additional secretary at the Foreign Ministry, playing a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the country's foreign policy.
