Major expansion for Hulhumalé Hospital with 250-bed facility in the pipeline
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced a significant project to expand Hulhumalé Hospital, including the construction of a new building with 250 additional beds.
Speaking during the latest episode of the President’s Office’s podcast “Rayyithunnaa Eku” (With the People), President Muizzu emphasized his administration’s commitment to expanding healthcare services across the Maldives and ensuring that people have access to the care they need.
He noted that despite Hulhumalé being one of the most densely populated areas in the country, the hospital currently lacks the capacity to meet the demand.
Efforts are already underway to expand services at the facility.
The president said that the emergency services at Hulhumalé Hospital have already been doubled.
He also shared plans to expand dialysis services by the end of July and confirmed that 24 more beds will soon be added to the existing hospital building.
In a major development, President Dr. Muizzu revealed that an additional building will be constructed to further expand the hospital’s capacity.
The new facility will accommodate 250 beds, significantly boosting the hospital’s ability to serve the growing population.
