Teen arrested in Phase II assault remanded in custody

Police have arrested an 18-year-old in connection with a violent altercation that occurred near Hiyaa Tower H11 in Hulhumalé Phase II, which left two individuals injured.

The incident was reported to authorities around 11:51 p.m. on May 20. 

According to police, one of the victims sustained a head injury while the other suffered swelling and bruises on his back and elbows.

In addition to the assault, the suspects reportedly stole two mobile phones during the confrontation.

The arrested individual has been identified as Mohamed Raihan Hussain, 18, from Ma. Shelter/ K.Malé. 

He was taken into custody under a court-issued warrant at 11:10 p.m. on Tuesday. 

A remand hearing held on Wednesday resulted in the suspect being detained pending trial.

The two injured victims were taken to Hulhumalé Hospital for treatment.
