Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef visited the Permanent Mission of the Maldives to the United Nations in New York while attending the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations, Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, received the Vice President at the Mission.

During a meeting, Vice President Latheef acknowledged the Mission’s work in representing Maldivian interests and ensuring that the country’s positions are communicated at the United Nations.

He conveyed the government’s appreciation for the Mission’s efforts and discussed the planning and management of its activities.

The Vice President also sought clarification on matters related to the Mission’s operations.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Iruthisham Adam and Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu attended the meeting.

Following the discussions, Vice President Latheef signed the Mission’s visitors’ book.

Vice President Latheef arrived in New York on September 20 to participate in the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The week brings together leaders and senior officials to discuss international issues and shared global priorities.
