Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) President and former Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the TV9 Global Summit 2025.

Shahid participated in two sessions at the summit, addressing key global challenges and the evolving role of South Asian nations on the international stage.

In a social media post on X, he expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Modi at the event’s inaugural session.

Reflecting on Modi’s speech, Shahid noted the Indian leader’s emphasis on the country’s contributions to shaping the global future.

Quoting Modi, he highlighted: “India is not just a nation of dreams but also a nation that delivers.”

During his address, Shahid underscored the challenges nations face in navigating geopolitical and economic developments.

He also emphasized the growing role of India in global affairs and the importance of increased representation for the Global South in platforms such as the United Nations.
