Moon sighting committee declares Eid-ul-Fitr for Sunday in the Maldives
The Islamic Ministry’s Moon Sighting Committee has announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed in the Maldives tomorrow, following reports of moon sightings in several Islamic nations.
In accordance with Maldives’ moon sighting principles, the country recognizes sightings reported in any Islamic nation, even if the crescent moon is not visible locally.
Saudi Arabia confirmed the sighting and declared Eid for Sunday, aligning with the decision made in the Maldives.
Saturday marks the last day of Ramadan, and the Maldivian government has officially announced Eid for Sunday.
However, some countries, including Malaysia, have determined that Eid will be observed on Monday.
Following Malaysia’s declaration, Brunei, Australia, Indonesia, and Bangladesh have also announced that Eid will fall on Monday, making Saturday the final day of Ramadan for these nations.
