No concerns over security operation, safety measures in place: Foreign Ministry
The Maldives Foreign Ministry has affirmed that there are no current concerns regarding the joint national security operation launched by the Maldives Police Service and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
The ministry made this announcement in a statement released today, while even international media is covering last night’s security operation.
According to the Foreign Ministry, these operations are routinely conducted based on intelligence reports to ensure the safety and security of the nation.
Last night, acting on intelligence reports, the Maldives Police Service and the Maldives National Defence Force began a Counter-Terrorism Operation in the Greater Malé Area. These operations are carried out as preventive measures, in line with intelligence findings, to maintain the safety and security of the Maldives

The ministry stressed that there are no current concerns about the operation and assured that the government remains committed to safeguarding all residents in the country.
While the operation is ongoing, there exists no present concern at this time. The Government assures its commitment to upholding safety and ensuring the protection of everyone residing in the Maldives. Authorities will continue to monitor and act swiftly on any intelligence received to maintain the Maldives as a safe, secure, and peaceful destination for residents and visitors alike

As part of the operation, three individuals have been arrested, and related areas have been searched, according to a police statement.
Meanwhile, the police removed their initial statement announcing the national security operation shortly after it was posted.
When questioned about the deletion, the police stated that the statement had been temporarily withdrawn.
No further information about the operation has been released since the brief statement issued yesterday.
