Maldives records strong start to 2025 with over 193,000 tourist arrivals in January
The Maldives has recorded a 10.7% increase in tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year, with 193,175 visitors arriving in the country by January 29, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism.
In January 2024, the Maldives welcomed 174,449 tourists.
On average, 6,899 tourists arrived in the Maldives daily throughout January, reflecting the nation’s strong start to the year in tourism.
China emerged as the top source market, contributing 29,397 visitors, accounting for 15.2% of total arrivals.
Russia ranked second with 20,291 arrivals and a 10.5% market share, followed by Italy with 18,779 visitors.
Notably, Poland and South Korea entered the Maldives' top ten source markets.
Over 4,000 tourists from Poland and more than 3,000 from South Korea visited the country in January, highlighting an increasing interest from these regions.
