Chinese doctors complete 60 surgeries in three days at successful Hulhumale’ eye camp

A specialized eye camp at Hulhumale’ Hospital has conducted approximately 60 cataract surgeries in just three days, led by a team of Chinese doctors.

Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim and Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Wang Lixin, visited the camp today to observe the ongoing efforts.

Following her visit, Ambassador Wang shared her satisfaction in a post on X, stating, 

Delighted to witness the joy of patients who regained improved vision thanks to the Chinese medical team. Over the past three days, they have completed nearly 60 surgeries for local patients, who have expressed immense gratitude. It’s heartening to see the benefits that Maldives-China cooperation brings to Maldivian citizens.

She wrote

In addition to touring the eye camp, Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim and Ambassador Wang engaged in discussions with Hulhumale’ Hospital management, exploring collaborative opportunities to further enhance eye care services in the Maldives.

Ambassador Wang noted the remarkable impact of this camp and emphasized the importance of conducting similar initiatives in the future.

The eye camp is set to continue until Saturday, November 10, and will serve patients who have already registered for eye surgeries, according to Hulhumale’ Hospital.
