The Chinese government has donated air conditioners to the Maldives' "Cool School" project, an initiative to install ACs in classrooms across the nation to create a more comfortable learning environment.

The donation was officially handed over by Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Wang Lixin, at a special ceremony and was received by Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu on behalf of the Maldivian government.

In his remarks, Minister Shafeeu highlighted the donation as a testament to the strong friendship between China and the Maldives.

He explained that the "Cool School" project, launched under the guidance of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, aims to improve student comfort and foster better relationships between students and teachers by providing cool, conducive learning spaces.

Ambassador Wang expressed his hope that this initiative would positively impact the Maldives' education sector, reinforcing the close ties between the two countries.

The "Cool School" project was initially launched in June at Maafushi School, and while it is expected to raise energy costs by 38%, it is seen as a key investment in enhancing the learning environment for students nationwide.
