President Dr. Muizzu promises benefits for Maldivians during India state visit
During his ongoing state visit to India, President Dr. Muizzu expressed optimism about forthcoming developments that will benefit the people of the Maldives within the next two to three days.
Speaking at a gathering with the Maldivian community in New Delhi,
Hopefully, we will see the results and sweetness in the coming days.
He remarked
The President emphasized the long-standing relationship between the Maldives and India, stating that his visit aims to further strengthen these ties and enhance mutual benefits.
He noted his commitment to prioritizing engagements with the Maldivian community abroad,
I intend to provide the full benefits of Maldives’ foreign policy to the people living abroad.”

Highlighting the importance of the Maldives High Commission in India, President urged the community to communicate their needs regarding consular assistance and other services.
Additionally, President expressed his desire to expand trade opportunities between the Maldives and India, envisioning New Delhi as a key hub for bilateral commerce.
In an email interview with the BBC, President Dr. Muizzu shared that India is poised to assist the Maldives in times of difficulty.
India is well aware of our financial situation, and as one of the largest development partners, they are always ready to help in times of crisis to find better alternatives and solutions to the challenges we face
He stated
The state visit, which commenced at the invitation of Indian President Droupadi Murmu, will include an official welcome ceremony and meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow.
President also met with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who affirmed that tomorrow’s discussions with Prime Minister Modi will further solidify the friendly relations between the two nations.
Accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ten ministers, President Dr. Muizzu's visit to India spans from October 6 to 10, 2024.
