The Government of the Maldives has strongly condemned the recent actions of Israel’s National Security Minister, who entered and prayed within the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, describing it as a provocative move and a violation of international law.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the Maldives expressed deep concern over what it termed a clear breach of the long-established status quo that governs the sacred site one of the holiest places in Islam.

The provocative practices carried out by the Israeli Minister represent a direct affront to the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and deeply offend the sentiments of Muslims worldwide,

the statement read.

The Government urged the international community to take immediate and decisive measures to prevent further violations by Israel and to protect the religious and historical sanctity of the Al-Aqsa compound.

Reaffirming its steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, the Maldives also called for urgent international efforts to safeguard Islamic religious sites and uphold the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
