Minister Dr. Khaleel to attend Asia Pacific Health and Environment Forum
Health Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel has departed for Jakarta, Indonesia, to attend the 5th Ministerial Meeting and 12th High-Level Officials Meeting of the Asia Pacific Regional Forum on Health and Environment (APRFHE).
Established in 2004, the forum addresses the link between environmental factors and public health in the Asia-Pacific, fostering intergovernmental collaboration.
From September 24-26, 2024, Dr. Khaleel will participate in site visits and discussions with Indonesian healthcare professionals, focusing on primary healthcare, elderly care, digital health tools, and health information systems.
These exchanges aim to provide insights into Indonesia’s healthcare advancements, benefiting Maldives' own healthcare improvements.
The forum, initially involving ASEAN and East Asian health and environment ministers, now includes WHO SEARO, WHO WPRO, and UNEP ROAP, and focuses on addressing environmental health risks in line with global frameworks like the SDGs and Paris Agreement.
Dr. Khaleel’s participation is expected to strengthen Maldives-Indonesia collaboration and contribute to the development of sustainable healthcare policies for the Maldives.
