Drugs worth 3.5kg seized from Maldivian arriving from Malaysia

Authorities have arrested a Maldivian national who arrived on a Malaysia Airlines flight after customs officials seized 3.5 kilograms of drugs.

The illicit substances were discovered as part of an air cargo shipment that arrived in the Maldives on a Malaysia Airlines flight, MH485, yesterday.

Customs confirmed that the seized drugs included 3,058 grams of heroin, 315 grams of methamphetamine, and 215 grams of synthetic cathinone.

The substances were initially suspected to be illegal drugs and were later confirmed through testing.

Following the seizure, both the drugs and the suspect were transferred to the Maldives Police Service for further investigation.

Officials have not yet released additional details regarding the incident.
