The President, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has bestowed the highest honor for service to the Maldivian nation to the memory of the late Fadheelathu Sheikh Hussain Salahuddin.

President Dr. Muizzu bestowed this honor in memory of Hussein Salahuddin this morning at the official ceremony of this year's National Day.

President Dr. Muizzu decided to award the Shield of Honor, as the highest honor for serving the Maldivian nationality to the memory of Hussein Salahuddin, for his national service in paving the way for the intellectual and ideological development of Maldivians and spreading knowledge in areas that are considered the foremost aspects of Maldivian nationality, such as the religion , language, heritage, and culture.

This is the highest honor bestowed by the President to those who have rendered notable services to the Maldivian nationality. The President decided to confer this special honor under the authority vested in the President by Article 6 of the Maldives Honors Act.

Hussein Salahuddin is one if the most prolific literary figure the Maldives has ever seen. 
He is also one of the strongest pillars in upholding Maldivian nationalism. 
Even a glance at the biography he wrote demonstrates his scholarship and proficiency in both Arabic and Dhivehi languages.
