Proposal submitted to introduce PayPal to the Maldives

The Maldivian government has submitted a proposal to PayPal, one of the world's most famous online payment platforms, to bring its services to the Maldives, according to the Minister of Economic Development, Mohamed Saeed.

Speaking on the state media PSM's 'Raajje Miadhu' program, Minister Saeed said that the proposal was sent to the company three days ago.

He added that he hopes to reach an agreement on this matter very soon.

"We are waiting to reach some kind of agreement very soon. I cannot say exactly on which day PayPal services will start in the Maldives. However, we will be able to bring PayPal to the Maldives,"

Introducing PayPal services to the Maldives is one of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's presidential pledges.

As part of the government's efforts to introduce this service to the Maldives, Minister Saaeed held important discussions with PayPal's Global Marketing President on the 22nd of last month.

PayPal is a company that provides online payment services, international money transfers, and business solutions.

The company is renowned for its secure transactions, robust security measures, and integration with various e-commerce platforms.
