Maldives Immigration has deported four foreign nationals who were involved in running a large-scale prostitution ring in the country.

The operation, which led to their deportation, was part of a special inspection conducted on August 11, 2024, in collaboration with the Maldives Police, following a tip-off about the illegal activities.

According to Immigration officials, three foreign women, aged 36, 38, and 41, along with a 35-year-old foreign man who was acting as their agent, were taken into custody.

After an investigation, all four individuals were deported and barred from re-entering the Maldives.

Many of these illegal prostitution operations are run through beauty salons and registered spas, which act as fronts for the illicit activities.

The recent deportations are part of an ongoing crackdown by Maldives Immigration and law enforcement agencies against illegal expatriates and those involved in unlawful business operations in the country.
