High call volume disrupts BML's call center service
Due to changes made by Bank of Maldives (BML) to dollar transactions on cards, the bank's call center service has been disrupted due to an increase in customer calls.
In a post on X, BML stated that although calls have increased and service has been disrupted, customers can still interact with the bank through social media and internet banking.
BML also said that additional information regarding foreign transactions on cards will be available on the bank's website, and apologized for any inconvenience caused in obtaining services.
BML has completely stopped dollar transactions on rufiyaa cards and reduced the limit of previously issued credit cards to $100. Under this change:
• Existing debit cards: If the card's primary account is set as a rufiyaa account, no amount will be available for foreign transactions.
• New debit and credit cards issued from today: If the card's primary account is set as a rufiyaa account, no amount will be available for foreign transactions.
• Existing standard and gold credit cards: Monthly foreign transactions are reduced to $100.
BML stated that this is a change brought about due to the daily increase in the number of foreign transactions made by cards, while the amount of foreign currency available for the bank to purchase remains constant.
