Shushmita Dhaugoda, commonly known as ‘Suzu’, a foreign national who was running an unauthorized beauty salon in the Maldives, has been arrested and deported by the Maldives Immigration authorities.

According to an official post on the Immigration's X account, Shushmita was apprehended during an inspection following a report received through the department's portal.

The inspection took place on the 18th of this month, and Shushmita was deported two days later on the 20th for operating a business illegally outside of her visa conditions.

Shushmita was the owner of Suzu Beauty Salon, which was found to be operating without proper authorization.

In a similar case earlier this month, another beauty salon owner, Rajani Shrestha (Riz), was also arrested and deported on the 13th, along with four other foreign employees who worked at the salon.

The Maldives Immigration authorities have been conducting intensified inspections and crackdowns on illegal businesses and unauthorized foreign workers.

These efforts are part of a broader operation aimed at shutting down illegal food businesses and other establishments run by foreigners without proper documentation.

Several arrests have already been made as part of this ongoing operation.
