"According to the information I have, there are places that were previously built by the British when they were here. We plan to renovate these places to make Addu a market for the British. Since this can be done under the Ministry of Heritage, I have also met with that ministry."
Minister Faisal Said
This November, during the Tourism Fair held in the United Kingdom, efforts will be made to promote Addu as a market for British tourists. Revealing this information, Minister Faisal stated that the Addu City Council has also decided to participate in the fair.
The Minister emphasized that making Addu City a tourism market for the British is a very special endeavor, and Addu is one of the best places to do this.
During World War II, in 1941, British forces established a base in Addu. Additionally, the Gan Airport was built during that time for the use of the British Royal Navy. British forces departed from Gan in 1976.
