New Government service center to open in Villimale’ and Hulhumale’

The government will provide services that currently require travel to Male' to the residents living in Villimale’ and Hulhumale’, President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu said.

The President announced plans to facilitate access to ID cards, passports, and other government services in Villimale’ and Hulhumale’.

The President stated that land has been allocated to the city council for a building, and if the council's budget is insufficient, they will be coordinating with the Cities and Local Governance Ministry to complete the project.

"A lot of people are coming to Male’ from Hulhumale’, more than the residents of Villimale’, every day to get various services. Whether it's passports, ID cards and a lot of services. A counter service center will hopefully be set up”, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu added.

The President said the arrangement is being made to reduce the burden on the public when they have to come to Male’ to seek services, as well as to solve the problem of traffic congestion in Male’ during government official hours.

"It will be a great relief for traffic movement, there will be fewer reasons to use the bridge. Living in Hulhumale’, the people living in Hulhumale’ will have all these services," he said.

The President announced that 22 new schools will be built in Hulhumale' to accommodate the growing population and help alleviate traffic congestion as well.

At least seven schools will be built in Hulhumale’ within the next four years, he said.
