India remains one of Maldives' closest and most invaluable allies: President Dr. Muizzu
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed his government's commitment to further strengthening the historic relationship between the Maldives and India during a speech marking the handover of essential infrastructure projects, including water supply and sewerage systems across 28 islands, funded by the Government of India’s Line of Credit through the EXIM Bank of India.
Speaking alongside Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted the deep collaboration between the two nations, particularly through the High Impact Community Development Projects under Indian Grant Assistance.

President Dr. Muizzu stated
He praised the continued flexibility shown by India in restructuring financial assistance and emphasized the importance of these initiatives in fostering a prosperous future for the Maldivian people.
Reflecting on his recent visit to India, President Dr. Muizzu fondly recalled his discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu, where they explored ways to further enhance bilateral relations.
He expressed optimism about the future of the Maldives-India partnership, rooted in centuries of friendship and mutual respect.
President Dr. Muizzu concluded by expressing his sincere thanks to the Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives, Munu Mahawar, and his team for their tireless work in enhancing bilateral relations, and voiced his hope for continued peace, prosperity, and security for both nations.
