In a recent joint press conference with the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and the Ministry of Tourism, Minister Faisal reaffirmed the current administration’s commitment to maintaining strong relations with both India and China.

The Indian market has faced a decline due to various factors. However, this does not reflect our current position. President Muizzu's foreign policy is focused on fostering friendly relations with all nations. Unlike our previous stance, today's government aims to maintain strong ties with both India and China while avoiding isolation.

Minister Faisal said

The recent data shows that India has fallen to 6th place in tourist arrivals as of August 7th, down from the top spot in 2023.

Conversely, China, which was 3rd in 2023, now holds the highest market share with 168,624 arrivals this year.

Faisal also highlighted the efforts of the MMPRC and the Ministry of Tourism in promoting Maldives tourism in India, including the "Welcome India" roadshow last month in Bangalore, Chennai, and Trivandrum.

The Minister emphasized that, unlike previous policies, the current government is dedicated to fostering robust relations with both India and China while steering clear of international isolation.
