Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer has traveled to Saudi Arabia to participate in an extraordinary Organisation for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting held in Jeddah.

This special session, convened at the request of Iran, focuses on addressing the ongoing hostilities by Israel in the Middle East, particularly concerning the Palestinian genocide and recent conflicts with Iran.

The meeting aims to unite OIC member states in deliberating on Israel’s alleged violations and military actions against Palestinians and its aggressive stance towards Iran.

The Maldives, a member of the OIC since 1976, is actively involved in this crucial dialogue.

During the meeting, Minister Zameer is scheduled to address the assembly, highlighting Israel's continuous hostilities against the Palestinian people.

He will also discuss the recent assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the Chief of Hamas’ Political Bureau, which has further inflamed regional tensions.

The assassination has prompted warnings of retaliation from Iran and Hezbollah.

The situation in the Middle East has intensified with increased U.S. military presence and Israel's readiness for potential escalation.

While it's been 300 days since the genocide started, their brutal attacks have killed 39,480 people and 32,280 have reached hospitals, according to the Ministry of Health of Palestine.
