Centralized patient records system launched in Baa Atoll and Fuvahmulah, plans for nationwide rollout: Health Minister
A new system allowing for centralized viewing of patient health records has been launched in two Maldivian atolls, according to Health Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel.
The announcement came in response to a query by Vaikaradhoo MP Hussain Ziyad during the parliament meeting today, regarding improvements in public health
Dr. Khaleel explained that the new system, initially being piloted in Fuvahmulah and Baa Atoll, addresses the challenges faced by both patients and healthcare providers due to the lack of consolidated health records.
The system will centralize patient information and include alerts for potential serious illnesses, facilitating better communication between patients and doctors.
The pilot project is expected to expand to Dhaalu Atoll and other provinces in the future.
In addition to this, Dr. Khaleel mentioned that efforts are underway to seek foreign assistance for establishing an urban primary care system in Malé.
This initiative aims to enhance the primary health care system with a comprehensive approach.
The minister also outlined plans for additional clinical work, including child health activities, elderly care, and the establishment of wellness centers under the primary care system.
These centers will provide specialized services, including visiting elderly and bedridden patients, and will aim to replicate facilities similar to Damanaveshi across all cities and regional islands.
