In a concerning incident in Henbadhoo island of Noonu atoll, two police motorcycles were torched, suspected to be retaliation against an ongoing drug operation in the area.

Ahmed Shifan, spokesperson for the Maldives Police Service (MPS), shared on social media platform 'X' that the first arson attack occurred on August 1, with the second motorcycle being set ablaze in the early hours of Friday.

Shifan suggested that a group of suspects, opposing the police’s drug operations in Noonu atoll, was likely responsible for the attacks.

He emphasized that such cowardly acts would not undermine the confidence and determination of the police force.

This incident serves as a reminder to those who hold such perspectives that their actions will not deter us
