VP Latheef arrives in Iran for inauguration of President-elect

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has arrived in the Islamic Republic of Iran as the Special Envoy of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran's President-elect, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian.

Upon his arrival at Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA), Vice President Latheef was warmly received by Dr. Alaeddin Boroujerdi, Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran.

Masoud Pezeshkian won the presidency by securing 53.7 percent of the vote in the July 5 runoff against former nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili.

The inauguration ceremony for President-elect Pezeshkian is scheduled to take place on July 30, 2024.

The Maldives and Iran reinstated diplomatic relations on March 10, 2023, marking a new chapter of cooperation between the two nations.
