President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced a significant financial commitment to the Maldivian art community, pledging an allocation of MVR 25 million annually from the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information, and Arts budget.

This announcement was made during his speech on Saturday at the "Unveiling Visions 2024" contemporary art exhibition held at the National Art Gallery.

In his address, President Dr Muizzu emphasized the government's dedication to promoting local artists, as outlined in the national manifesto.

He detailed various initiatives aimed at providing artists with opportunities to showcase and market their work both locally and internationally.

Noting the current lack of exhibition space, he mentioned that the Youth Ministry's projects in Hulhumale’ would include studios and spaces for various artistic activities.

Additionally, the government will facilitate art exhibitions across various islands and encourage Maldivian artists to participate in international forums, providing them with platforms to generate income from their work.

The Maldivian Artist Community (MAC) shortlisted 105 artists from over 200 applications for the Unveiling Visions 2024 exhibition, which featured a diverse range of works including drawing, painting, mixed media, calligraphy, and installations.

The exhibition ran from July 9 to 21 at the National Art Gallery, showcasing both renowned and emerging Maldivian artists.

During the event, the MAC presented President Dr Muizzu with a catalogue, and he autographed the book 'Unveiling Visions 2024' that visitors had signed.

The Unveiling Visions Exhibition has provided a platform for Maldivian artists for seven consecutive years, highlighting the nation's rich artistic talent.
