President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu extended his congratulations to Rt. Honourable KP Sharma Oli on his recent appointment as the Prime Minister of Nepal.

In a post shared on the social media platform X, President Dr Muizzu highlighted the strong people-to-people connections between the Maldives and Nepal and expressed his eagerness to work closely with Prime Minister Oli to enhance bilateral cooperation.

The diplomatic relationship between the Maldives and Nepal was established on August 1, 1980.

President Dr Muizzu's message underscored the historical ties and the potential for further strengthening these bonds under Oli’s leadership.

KP Sharma Oli, who represents the right-wing Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) of Nepal, was appointed by President Ram Chandra Paudel after the parliament passed a no-confidence motion against his predecessor, Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

This marks Oli’s fourth term as prime minister, having previously served from 2015-2016 and from 2018 to July of the current year.
