PSM delivers over MVR 19 Million from 'Maldives with Palestine' telethon to foreign ministry

Public Service Media (PSM) has handed over more than MVR 19 million raised through the 'Palestine aaeku Dhivehin' or 'Maldivians with Palestine' telethon  to support the Palestinian people.

In a symbolic ceremony, PSM Managing Director Zeena Zahir presented a cheque for MVR 19,186,851.5 to Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer, representing the Ministry of External Affairs.

The telethon, launched by PSM on June 12th, saw significant contributions from companies and government agencies, accumulating a total of MVR 19.1 million. The funds included MVR 18,418,922.24, USD 49,800.86, and additional amounts collected through various channels.

Online transactions contributed MVR 15,495,613.31 and USD 37,919. Fundraising boxes placed on various islands collected MVR 1,417,549.93 and USD 11,768.

Additionally, PSM's live coverage of the event generated MVR 1,505,759 and USD 113.

During the handover ceremony, Zeena Zahir highlighted the extensive efforts required to count the donations.

she said.

The raised funds will be donated to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

To ensure transparency, the telethon was audited by Crowe Maldives.
