President Dr Muizzu calls for generosity as Maldives launches nationwide fundraising telethon for Palestine
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called on all Maldivians to show extreme generosity in assisting Palestinians, as the Maldives launched a nationwide fundraising telethon campaign today.
The campaign, under the slogan “Falastheenaa Eku Dhivehin,” translates to “Maldivians in Solidarity with Palestine.”
In his address during the launching ceremony, held at Public Service Media (PSM) headquarters, President Dr Muizzu highlighted the growing support for Palestine among those who had previously remained silent.
The Islamic Ummah must draw courage from this and take efforts to advocate for the rights of Palestinians to the next level
he said
He emphasized the escalating severity of the Palestine conflict and urged people not to ignore the dire situation.
Being a Muslim means that a trouble that befalls one Muslim is shared by the entire Ummah. This is what our religion teaches us. Islam teaches us that believers are like one body; when any part aches, the whole body aches,
President Dr Muizzu stated
He appealed to all Maldivians, regardless of political affiliation or ideology, to join the telethon and make it a day of significant donations for Palestinians.
The “Falastheenaa Eku Dhivehin” telethon was organized by the Public Service Media (PSM) in partnership with local media, including SSTV, at the President’s request.
