President Dr Muizzu highlights successful India trip, foresees stronger Maldives-India alliance

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has described his recent visit to India as highly successful, highlighting its potential to significantly enhance the bilateral relationship between India and the Maldives for the benefit of their citizens.

The President made these remarks in an interview with public media during his time in New Delhi.

President Dr Muizzu visited New Delhi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has assumed office for a third consecutive term, along with the Council of Ministers of the Government of India.

This trip, undertaken at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi, marked President Dr Muizzu's first visit to India since taking office on November 17 last year.

Reflecting on the visit, President Dr Muizzu expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi for the invitation and emphasized the positive outcomes of the trip. 

This visit has been very successful for the Maldives and the region. I am very pleased that Prime Minister Modi invited me. The meetings were fruitful, and I am optimistic about the future of our bilateral relations.
