A delegation of Japanese journalists is currently visiting the Maldives from May 17th to May 24th, 2024, as part of a familiarisation trip organized by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

The journalists are staying at Huvafen Fushi, Mövenpick Resort Kuredhivaru, and LUX* South Ari Atoll, experiencing the luxury and unique wellness programs the Maldives has to offer.

The visiting media outlets include VOGUE Japan Online, CREA WEB, Numero Tokyo.jp, and MyNavi Woman.

This initiative aims to promote the Maldives as a top and safe holiday destination, enhancing its presence on various digital platforms and in the Japanese market.

This trip is part of MMPRC's strategy to increase destination awareness and showcase the diverse tourism opportunities available in the Maldives.

The firsthand experiences of the journalists will contribute to influential publications, targeting trend-conscious and affluent Japanese travelers.

While MMPRC is holding this FAM trip, the Maldives received significant recognition earlier this year in the "Marine Diving Awards 2023," securing 3rd place in the "Best Area Overseas Division" and 2nd place in the "Best Overseas Destination I Want to Visit for the First Time."

Japan which ranks 13th in market arrivals to the Maldives, has arrivals of 9,333  as of April 2024, accounting for a 1.5% market share.

This initiative highlights MMPRC's commitment to maintaining the Maldives' presence as a leading travel destination and ensuring continued growth in tourism from the Japanese market.
