Maldivian to add three new aircraft to its fleet

National Airlines, Maldivian, has stated that it plans to add a new aircraft to the national airline fleet.

Speaking at a PSM programme, Aishath Jennifer, deputy managing director of Island Aviation, said that three more ATR aircraft will be acquired this year for domestic flights.

Jennifer said that two ATR 72 and one ATR 42 have been brought in.

While more aircraft will be acquired this year, Maldives is in the process of releasing the larger vessel in its fleet and developing a new boat that can be used for long journeys.

Maldives currently has 23 boats in its fleet. Maldives is currently operating international flights to Trivandrum and Kochi in India and Dhaka in Bangladesh.
