Maldives secures four prestigious awards at World Travel Awards Indian Ocean category

In a momentous achievement, the Maldives has clinched four prestigious awards at the World Travel Awards (Indian Ocean category) during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024, held at the Dubai World Trade Center.

The Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) proudly announced this triumph, solidifying the country's status as a leading destination in the tourism industry.

The awards garnered by the Maldives for 2024 are as follows:

1. Indian Ocean's Leading Destination 2024

2. Indian Ocean's Leading Honeymoon Destination 2024

3. Indian Ocean's Leading Green Destination 2024

4. Indian Ocean's Leading Dive Destination 2024

Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards are renowned for their recognition of excellence in the global travel and tourism sector.

These accolades underscore the Maldives' unparalleled allure and commitment to sustainable tourism practices.

At the prestigious event, held at the World Travel Awards Winners Hub during ATM, distinguished individuals from the Maldives accepted the awards on behalf of Maldives.

Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal accepted the award for Indian Ocean's Leading Destination 2024, while Ayesha Nurain Janah, Chairperson of the MMPRC Board, received the award for Indian Ocean's Leading Honeymoon Destination 2024.

Additionally, Fathmath Thaufeeq,  Managing Director of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) accepted the award for Indian Ocean's Leading Green Destination 2024 on behalf of the Maldives.

The Indian Ocean's Leading Dive Destination 2024 award was received by Mr. Mohamed Khaleel, Advisor to the President on Tourism Development.

These accolades not only cement the Maldives' reputation as a premier tourist destination but also recognize the tireless efforts of the MMPRC in bolstering the tourism sector.

With the addition of the Indian Ocean category to the World Travel Awards in 2003, the Maldives has consistently shone on the global stage.

The country has amassed an impressive array of awards, including 17 wins for Leading Destination, 6 wins for Leading Honeymoon Destination, and 9 wins for Leading Dive Destination.

The World Travel Awards, remain a pinnacle of achievement in the tourism industry, celebrating excellence and innovation across the globe.
