Minister Dr. Shaheem to represent Maldives at Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit in Gambia
Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has been appointed as the special envoy of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for the 15th summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), currently underway in Banjul, Gambia.
In a statement to the media before his departure to Gambia yesterday, Minister Shaheem underscored the significance of discussions at the summit, particularly focusing on the pressing situation in Palestine and other pertinent matters affecting the Islamic world.
He reiterated his steadfast commitment to condemning acts of terror targeting Palestinians, emphasizing the importance of unity and solidarity among Islamic nations.
Themed "Enhancing Unity and Solidarity through Dialogue for Sustainable Development," the 15th OIC Summit convenes senior officials from 57 member countries to deliberate on strategies for promoting dialogue, cooperation, and sustainable development within the Islamic world. M
inister Shaheem is scheduled to deliver a speech during the summit, advocating for collaborative efforts towards achieving these shared objectives.
The summit, scheduled from May 4 to 5, serves as a platform for collective action and cooperation among OIC member states.
