Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, has directed Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau to investigate the events surrounding the response to Tuesday night's incidents during the People's National Front (PNF) meeting.

The Minister's decision comes in light of concerns over the use of force by police during the altercation, which ensued after PNF attempted to hold their Formation Meeting at Ghiyasudheen International School's hall despite the school's cancellation of the agreement citing logistical challenges.

I have instructed the Commissioner of Police to review police actions outside Ghiyasudheen School last night, and the reasons behind the use of force and the deployment of SO Police

stated Minister Ihusaan

Ihusaan's directive is rooted in President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's standing orders to refrain from employing undue force in addressing such incidents.

In a social media post, Ihusaan reiterated the President's explicit instructions to limit the use of Special Operations Police except in exceptional circumstances.

The confrontation between police and PNF members and supporters led to physical altercations as law enforcement sought to halt the meeting at the school's premises.

Ihusaan emphasized the importance of adhering to the President's directives, emphasizing that undue force should not be utilized during responses to peaceful gatherings or public demonstrations.

In a subsequent development, the Sports Ministry offered the indoor hall of the Social Centre as an alternate venue for the meeting, though PNF ultimately chose to relocate to the SinaMale' Bridge Platform late into the night.
