President Dr. Muizzu promises radiant Eid festivities, commits to lighting up more islands

President Dr. Muizzu has assured the citizens of the Maldives that Eid celebrations will continue to improve with each passing year, promising to illuminate more islands for Eid al-Adha and upcoming festivities.

Speaking at a ceremony held on Monday night to mark the reopening of the water fountain at Republic Square and the commencement of Eid decorations in major cities and islands across the nation, President Dr. Muizzu expressed the government's commitment to expanding the reach of the celebrations.

More islands are requesting to put up Eid lights, and by God's will, the government will endeavor to illuminate as many islands as possible for Eid al-Adha and the subsequent year

He emphasized the importance of inclusivity in the celebrations, urging citizens to come together despite differences of opinion.

We are one people, and Maldives being a 100 percent Muslim country, we should eagerly await Eid and prepare for it from the outset, observing religious norms,

He further expressed hope for an even greater number of illuminated islands in the coming years.

We hope to light up even more islands next year,
