In a recent press conference, Maldives Commissioner of Police, Ali Shujau, disclosed that Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem had been provided with security due to an identified threat linked to an ongoing court case.

While Commissioner Shujau confirmed the prior security measures, he refrained from specifying the exact timeline of this arrangement.

The revelation follows an attempted roadside attack on Shameem yesterday morning.

Commissioner Shujau confirmed that security measures were initiated based on a threat assessment during the specific court case, though he did not specify the duration of this security arrangement.

"During an ongoing court case, we conducted a threat assessment, and security services were provided to PG Shameem. Unfortunately, once the case concluded, security measures were discontinued," stated Commissioner Shujau.

The attempted attack on Shameem occurred when he was without any security detail.

The Maldives Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the roadside attack on the Prosecutor General.
