The Bar Council of Maldives has announced plans to host the Maldives' first-ever bar conference in 2022.

The first bar conference named "Raise the Bar" Conference would be held on 10-11 October at Meerumaa Event Hall.

The first-ever Maldivian Bar Conference aims to focus on four thematic areas: new licensing standards of the bar, professional conduct for lawyers and disciplinary regime, CPD, CLE and LPA reform.  The elements featured in the conference would include international best practices in bar regulation and lawyer services, BCM initiatives and work plans, and membership engagement and contribution to the legal profession's future in the Maldives.

This conference would be the first of its kind and provides a platform for engagement and deliberations, to analyze vital regulatory objectives of the LPA, successes stories, unique challenges, and ways forward.
