Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises Hassan Zareer has held discussions with Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) Director General Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi on securing financial assistance for development projects planned in the Maldives.

According to the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises, the discussions focused on strengthening the longstanding partnership between the Maldives and ADFD, as well as reviewing ongoing projects and identifying areas for further cooperation.

Minister Zareer also expressed appreciation to ADFD for its continued economic support to the Maldives and for its role in maintaining and strengthening ties between the two countries.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu separately met with Al Suwaidi to discuss potential areas where the Maldives and ADFD could expand cooperation.

ADFD has supported development in the Maldives since 1976, providing financial assistance for projects in areas including urban development and other sectors of economic importance.

One of the fund's major contributions to the Maldives has been financial support for the development of the new passenger terminal at Velana International Airport.

The latest discussions come as the Maldives seeks to strengthen development partnerships and secure additional financing for projects planned across the country.
