Yesterday, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with Sun Haiyan, the Vice Minister of the International Department of China's Communist Party, who is currently on an official visit to the Maldives at the invitation of Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer.

The main focus of the meeting was the implementation of agreements signed by President Muizzu during his visit to China.

The President emphasized the need to translate these agreements into action, as disclosed by the President's office.

A key point of discussion was the initiation of direct flights from various cities in China to the Maldives, building on the recent commencement of flights from Hong Kong.

The leaders explored ways to deepen the connection between China and the Maldives in various sectors.

President Muizzu expressed his desire for the swift execution of the agreed-upon initiatives.

The President's office reported that President Muizzu requested the active participation of both Maldivian and Chinese authorities in making these agreements a reality.

Assurances were given during the meeting that collaborative efforts would be undertaken by authorities in both Maldives and China, under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, to strengthen the bilateral relationship.

Sun Haiyan's three-day visit to the Maldives is set to conclude tomorrow.

The visit signifies the commitment of both nations to fostering stronger ties and exploring new avenues for cooperation.
