President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu calls for urgent review of Medical Evacuation Regulations following tragic incident

In response to the recent tragic passing of 13-year-old Mohamed Jaah Khalid from GA. Villingili, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has urgently requested a comprehensive review of regulations pertaining to the medical evacuation or transport of injured civilians to hospitals.

This move aims to prevent any recurrence of similar tragic incidents.

President Muizzu, addressing the press, expressed his deep sorrow over the incident and highlighted the need for a thorough examination of the events leading to the medical evacuation of Mohamed Jaah Khalid from Villingili to Male' city.

He called on relevant authorities to provide a detailed explanation of the circumstances and to implement measures that would prevent such tragedies.

In an official press release from the president's office, it was stated that President Muizzu has specifically urged relevant authorities, including Aasandha, to expedite medical evacuation situations without delays. Civilians requiring emergency transfers should be prioritized, and regulations, especially those governed by Island Aviation, are to be reviewed and adhered to.

President Muizzu conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Mohamed Jaah Khalid's family and expressed profound sadness upon learning of his passing while receiving treatment at IGMH.
