The President Dr.Mohamed Muizzu has decided to end the import of medicine from a particular country and to import medicines directly from its manufacturing countries.

After his visit to China, the President held a press briefing at the Velana International Airport. During this, president Dr.Muizzu said the import of ordinary medicine to Maldives has been ended and it will be imported directly from Europe and the United States.

"We will hopefully switch imports of medicine from direct manufacturers, Europe and the United States. That has already started. Hopefully our country will soon import from European and American sources," he said.

In the press briefing President Dr.Muizzu added that the government's aim is to provide Aasanda from better quality and higher class countries than the current state-provided Aasanda.

He also said the government's aim is to expand Aasanda to better quality countries such as the UAE and Thailand.
