The Democrats to be Involved in Next Government: Azim
Parliament member Ali Azim of the Central Henveiru constituency, stated that following this year's presidential elections, a new government will be established with “The Democrats” participating and being involved in the decision-making.
Azim's remarks were delivered during his speech at "The Democrats" rally held on Sunday night.
Ali Azim stated that despite the postponement of the registration process of "The Democrats" by the Elections Commission, the party remains determined to complete the formation and official registration procedures.
Furthermore, he asserted that "The Democrats" will actively participate in the upcoming presidential elections.
He expressed his belief that following a successful outcome in the upcoming elections, wherein "The Democrats" aim to surpass the MDP (Maldives Democratic Party), a new government will be established, ensuring substantial participation of the Democrats in its composition and decision-making processes.
“We will form this party, and hopefully, we will be the elected government. Insha Allah, we are committed to ensuring that our voice holds weight, leaving no room for a government where our influence is disregarded.”

"The Democrats" is a political party that emerged as a result of several parliament members from the ruling party, MDP, along with longstanding members, departing from the party and uniting.
Members of "The Democrats" have openly voiced criticism against the current government, particularly President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. They have asserted that President Solih has not fulfilled the promises made to the Maldivian people and, as a result, they believe he is not deserving of a second term in office.
Furthermore, the members of "The Democrats" have expressed their willingness to form coalitions with any political entities necessary in order to bring about a change in the current government.
