Opposition leadership to Presidential Office for allegedly torturing President Yameen
The opposition leadership has arrived at the President's Office accusing the government of torturing the Presidential candidate for the opposition, and the former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
The opposition leadership members including member of Maavashu constituency, Mohamed Saeed, member of Guraidhoo constituency, Gassan Maumoon, K Atoll council president, Mohamed Nimaal, member of Naifaru constituency, Ahmed Shiyam, member of Faresmaathodhaa constituency, Hussain Mohamed Latheef, gathered near Presidential Office today, holding "Free President Yameen" posters.
Numerous other PPM members also joined the gathering, protesting in the area, holding posters and calling for the government to stop torturing their president.
Due to this Presidential Office security, Police and MNDF have been active in the area.
The opposition have been claiming that President Yameen had been imprisoned unjustly and is being tortured under the orders of incumbent President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. And that the government has been doing this in order to block the opportunity for President Yameen to run for the upcoming presidential election.
They have also been stating that despite all that President Yameen will be freed from prison and win this year's presidential elections.
